Biblical Teaching: Money Quarter

This biblical teaching is a production of The Walk Ministries with Pastor Jeno Shaw. You can watch the video below, and then read the teaching notes that follow.

Overview

2022 Quarters

Why do the 2022 US quarters have George Washington facing to the right and away from the words, “In God We Trust?” Take a look:

Specifications

As you can see, the face is very well facing away from “In God We Trust.” Now this very design was created back in the 1930s. This design was created by Laura Gardin Fraser who was a female sculptor. Not that that has anything to do with it, but the original submission was back in 1932 as part of a competition to honor Washington’s 200th birthday. However, she didn’t win the competition. Instead, a left-facing Washington won the competition, which was done by John Flanagan. That is the normal quarter that we are used to seeing all the time.

In 1999, Washington also faced away from the words, “In God We Trust,” so this is not the first time. Bill Clinton was the president of the United States at that time. I don’t think I need to go into what happened during his presidency. You can always google it.

Now, as part of recognizing American women through the “American Women’s Quarters Program,” which will run from 2022-2025, we have a 1932 submission that is on the face of the quarter now. And up to five new quarters are supposed to be released every year to celebrate and give recognition to american women, which is very well deserved. But hey, just fix the Washington face to turn toward God, NOT away from God! Yes, you can give Washington a different hair-do, but c’mon, make him face God, is all I’m saying.

Now, supposedly this wasn’t done on purpose, BUT I argue that it doesn’t matter if it was done by accident. This is facing the wrong way. Not only is it facing the wrong way, but you can look at where we are at as a nation and see how far America has tried its best to turn away from God. But I declare that America is a Christian nation! America was founded on Christian beliefs. Our money even says, “In God We Trust.” We are a blessed nation because of God and our alignment with the nation of Israel. We must always partner and back Israel.

While I’m speaking about money, we are about to experience a wealth transfer and we need to be prepared and ready. Some of you might think, “I’m ready right now.” Are you? Be sure. You hear stories all the time about how people win the lottery and  five years later, they went broke. Why?

I’ll tell you why. Money can be used as a seed. You can sow it and expect a harvest later. That’s money seed. Money also can be used as a bread, which is what happened to the Israelites. When the Israelites were hungry, God gave them bread because they needed to eat NOW. That’s the difference between the two. Money can be used for now money bread, or money can be used as a seed for the future money seed.

Now there are people, and I know you heard of them, that die pretty wealthy, yet they lived as if they were poor. After they passed, you find out they had million-dollar investments, real estate, and what not, but their everyday life didn’t reflect one of affluence. That’s because these types of people focused too much on their money seed and they neglected the money bread. They were too much into their future and were not able to recognize the money bread God was blessing them with.

Today, most people are the opposite. They are all focused on the money bread, the now, and they are eating through their money bread. This can leave you broke tomorrow.

You must train yourself and also ask God for wisdom to handle finances. And when that big wealth transfer happens, whatever you do dont say, “Okay, Lord, I can take it from here.” You may lose your money faster than you got it.

Another pitfall to watch out for is to be careful of your friends. It’s okay to hang out with affluent people. But you run into a problem if you find yourself trying to keep up with them! You will not be able to enjoy the NOW that God is blessing you with because you’re so busy trying to keep up with your friends. You could be making $150,000 a year, and that’s pretty good, right? But it’s just not enough if your friends are making a half million a year and that’s all you see. You will max out your credit cards and take out loans just to keep up the appearance. What does the bible say?

1 Timothy 6:6-10
6 “But godliness with contentment is great gain. (7) For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. (8) And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. (9) But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. (10) For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

Being content with what you have is the key. And there’s other scriptures as well on this, but you get the picture. To avoid foolish and hurtful lusts, be truly content. It’s okay to get something every now and then, but it shouldn’t be a driving factor in your life.

Verse 10 talks about the love of money. How can you tell if you have the love of money? Follow the money trail. What you spend money on tells a lot about yourself.

Tithing proves you don’t have a love of money. By tithing, you are showing God you don’t love money. Yes, money is needed, and it’s ok to be wealthy as long as we are being a good steward with the finances. Tithing is a first huge step in the right direction.

Pray with me

Father God, I believe America is at a turning point. I pray that the quarter and any other American money is returned to facing the “In God We Trust” inscription. I pray for prayer to be put back into all schools. I pray for godly leaders to take over all seven mountains of influence, and I pray that the “rainbow” will once again and forever be recognized as YOUR symbol. I pray for wisdom and knowledge and understanding of finances so that I may be a great steward of the kingdom finances, Lord. May the windows of heaven open up now in my life. I agree it’s time to shine, for all of us believers to rise and shine, in Jesus’ name, amen!

I truly love you all,
