Abraham’s Blessings

INTRODUCTION

So what is this all about anyways, this Abraham’s blessing? You may have heard of it but never dove into it to fully understand what it means. Well you’re in the right place.

Abraham’s Blessing

This is a gift that Abraham received as part of God’s genius plan to create a brand new nation on this earth. See the above genealogy layout to see all the way from Abraham to Jesus.

Now you might notice that your name is not there. So if your name is not there then what does this blessing have anything to do with you today. Glad you asked that question.

Galatians 3:26-29 AMPC

For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith. For as many [of you] as were baptized into Christ [into a spiritual union and communion with Christ, the Anointed One, the Messiah] have put on (clothed yourselves with) Christ. There is [now no distinction] neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ [are in Him Who is Abraham’s Seed], then you are Abraham’s offspring and [spiritual] heirs according to promise.

To compare here is the KJV

Galatians 3:29

“And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

For this verse I do like the AMPC better. But that doesn’t mean the AMPC wins out in every verse. Just letting you know.

So according to this, anybody male or female, jew or not a jew, for that matter I’ll include black or white as long as the person is in Christ, accepted Christ is the prerequisite then you automatically receive the spiritual blessing of justification. Because we are in Jesus and Jesus is a descendant of Abraham then we are Abraham’s seed and therefore heirs to the promise.

Galatians 3:6-9

Amplified Bible

6 Just as Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness, [as conformity to God’s will and purpose—so it is with you also]. 7 So understand that it is the people who live by faith [with confidence in the power and goodness of God] who are [the true] sons of [a]Abraham. 8 The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, proclaimed the good news [of the Savior] to Abraham in advance [with this promise], saying, “In you shall all the nations be blessed.” 9 So then those who are people of faith [whether Jew or Gentile] are blessed and favored by God [and declared free of the guilt of sin and its penalty, and placed in right standing with Him] along with Abraham, the believer.

So it is people of faith who are the children of Abraham. And if we are children then we are heirs.

Ok Heirs to what, exactly?

True these blessings fell onto Abraham.

Genesis 12:1-3

Amplified Bible

Abram Journeys to Egypt

1 Now [in Haran] the Lord had said to Abram,

“Go away from your country,

And from your relatives

And from your father’s house,

To the land which I will show you;

2 And [a]I will make you a great nation,

And I will bless you [abundantly],

And make your name great (exalted, distinguished);

And you shall be a blessing [a source of great good to others];

3 And I will bless (do good for, benefit) those who bless you,

And I will curse [that is, subject to My wrath and judgment] the one who curses (despises, dishonors, has contempt for) you.

And in you all the families (nations) of the earth will be blessed.”

  • 1. And I will make of thee a great nation [God is making a new nation]

  • 2. And I will bless thee [abundantly]

  • 3. And make thy name great  (exalted, distinguished)

  • 4. And thou shalt be a blessing [a source of great good to others]

  • 5. And I will bless them that bless thee (do good for, benefit)

  • 6. And curse them that curse thee [that is, subject to My wrath and judgment] (despises, dishonors, has contempt for)

  • 7. And in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed [descendants]

The Blessing Today

This blessing today comes to us through our faith in the finished work of  Jesus Christ, which is actually Abraham’s seed. In the old Testament the people were counted righteous and blessed as they were looking forward by faith toward the coming of Jesus. So it is through faith in God’s word through the finished work of Jesus Christ that Abraham’s blessings are ours!

So if you had some investments but never checked the status of them then how can you access them? Why would you access them? Even if the investments multiplied many times over you wouldn’t know because you don’t even have the faith to access them.

Similar to this blessing we have to have accepted Jesus Christ and by faith we access these blessings.

I truly love you all,
