“The Calling”
Wake up to the best part of life
God calls us but do we listen and do we trust?
Burning Bush
Remember the burning bush? Moses just notices a burning bush that is not consumed so he comes closer and immediately he encounters God.
Exodus 3:6
“Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.”
The First Encounter
So here is Moses face to face with God and immediately he is afraid. Bookmark this, we’ll get back to this later.
God is calling Moses to do a mission, to free the hebrews but Moses comes up with every excuse he can find:
- Who am I? Moses thinks he is a nobody. Ex. 3:11 (how many of us have felt this way?)
- I don’t know your name. What name shall I tell them? (Moses lacks confidence and wants to know what name he should tell the Hebrews). Ex. 3:13
- What if they don’t believe me? Ex. 4:1 (This story is so outlandish, who’s gonna believe me?)
- Iam of slow in speech and tongue. (Moses tried to disqualify himself). Ex. 4:10
- Finally Moses rejects the calling and he says send someone else. Ex. 4:13 Now this caused the Lord to be angry and not only kindled but burned against Moses. Why? Possibly because the Lord does not know failure. Can you imagine the Lord calling us and then he goes back and meets with the Godhead and their like so what happened? And the Lord goes “well and he said no so let’s all pack up and go home we failed. “NO.
But I like how the Lord kinda met him halfway. He did allow Aaron to come along but ya Moses did go!
But see how the Lord had big plans for Moses! God did not intend nor thought Moses needed help. Imagine if Moses would have just said yes in the beginning? Would Moses still need help, yes, but it would have been on God’s timing and not Moses. I believe Moses overall did a tremendous job, bravo, but he did miss an opportunity here!
Saints let us not lose an opportunity today! Pray this…
Father, whatever you ask of me today and in the future, I’m letting it be known now that I agree with you and I say YES! In Jesus name amen.
I truly love you all,
