Gym Rat

August 9th, 2022

Overview

There are at least over 600 muscles in the human body. When I was younger I used to be a gym rat. I would always goto the gym. Now I was never big but I was skinny and strong.

In fact when I first started working out I knew nothing so what happened? I over worked out and I damaged my arms in a way that I can’t straighten them out all the way. I remember I was doing barbell curls and I just kept going and going well when I got done, my muscles were so tight I couldn’t straighten out my arm and my arm kept folding back up. It took a week to relax my arm back down but after that I was unable to straighten my arm out all the way. But hey it still works!

Now after a while of going to the gym my muscles began to respond. They were getting bigger. All that hard work was beginning to pay off.

The reason the gym works is because you are tricking your muscles to respond. You see,  if you do nothing then your muscles will not react. By putting a false load onto your muscles it causes them to react. This false load I call it false because you’re putting this load there that doesn’t need to be there. So when you put this load across your muscles whether it be your biceps, triceps or quads, the muscles sustain damage to its fibers. The muscle will heal itself by fusing these fibers together which in turn increases the size of the muscles.

So we can all agree a muscle will not grow unless it’s challenged.

Funny thing

Isn’t it funny how our walk with Christ and our faith is very similar. Our faith grows by sitting on the couch and watching movies, no. Our faith grows when there is a load put onto it just like a muscle and this causes our faith to grow.

Remember David. You can see how his faith grew. First was the lion attack he had to defend and the bear. Next came Goliath by this time David’s faith was mature. Notice faith disregards age.

Even though David was younger than most men dressed for battle, his faith was more mature, even more mature than the King, King Saul at the time. So this means a child, a teenager or a young adult, could very well be more Faithfully mature than you!

Or you might have strong faith in most areas but you might have little faith in let’s say healing. Another person then might have strong faith in healing but lack faith in the very areas that you are strong in. See how we can fit like a puzzle, a true body of Christ, when we get together and put our squabbling aside.

So my question to you is, how can faith grow without a challenge?

Even Gold

Gold has to go through it. One of the techniques used in processing gold ore is to use cyanide, yes that’s right cyanide! You put the gold ore in a tank along with zinc and a cyanide solution which then causes the ore to separate from the gold.

In another process you can take the gold ore and smash it to pieces, yes smash it into tiny little rocks and this goes through a filter process as well.

Either way it goes, it doesn’t seem like a fun process for gold.

But doesn’t this look like life sometimes? We can go through challenges and it just feels terrible but afterwards you can look back and see how it changed you.

Life can feel like we go through a smashing process sometimes. Life also can seem like we have taken some cyanide as well from being in toxic relationships of all kinds could be from work or from personal relationships or even family or people we seem to meet randomly.

It just seems that to just get to the good stuff there’s pain involved.

Just ask Jesus, he died for us and rose again to free us from the penalty of sin at the very least.

So whatever it is that we go through, remember it’s Jesus that paid the ultimate price for us. Before you were backstabbed at work, Jesus was backstabbed. Luke 22:22

Before someone whom you loved divorced you(turn their back on you) it happened to God. Luke 10:18

Before the IRS came after you , it came after Jesus(fish with coin) Matthew 17:27

Conclusion

Just like going to the gym can increase our strength and our size by putting a load on your muscles, Life has a way of putting its load on us. But when we come out of that situation that we had found ourselves in regardless of how we got there, we come out stronger and wiser.

But there are times that the load we are going through  is too heavy to bear. If that is happening to you right now I want you to know, Jesus went through that too when he said let this cup pass from me, but not my will be done let it be yours Father.  When we are overwhelmed we always ask that our Fathers will be done in our lives that’s the modest wisest decision we can make. Jesus also is giving us a helping hand with this verse.

1 Peter 5:7 (amp)

7 casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].

Jesus watches over you. It may not seem like it but he does.

Furthermore in KJV verse:

Matthew 11:28-30

28

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

When you’re feeling overwhelmed, bring it to the Lord. It says his yoke is easy and his burden is light.

Bring it before the Lord whatever it is and let him deal with it. Let him deal with any anxiety, depression or anything else just give it to him and let him begin the healing process for you.

Lord Jesus it says in the word to come to you. I come to you now. This is too much. This burden that I have is too much. Please take it from me.

(you can do a prophetic act and cup your hands and give it to Jesus)

(Inhale and exhale deeply) pause and let the Lord begin to work in you

Now being freed from that burden I now take upon your yoke for your yoke is easy.

Thank you Jesus. For healing me, for watching over me, I can now claim victory in the mighty name of Jesus! Amen!

Now if you’re reading this you might say hmm i sure don’t feel like victory. Let me tell you something. Some people haven’t even made it to this prayer, the fact that you prayed this prayer you are victorious and your life will begin to change, one day at a time.

I truly love you all,
